Students and faculty of Melbourne Elementary welcomed State Senator James Sturch on Monday afternoon as he presented the school with a check for $20,450, recognizing the achievements of students and staff.  Melbourne Elementary ranked in the top 6% to 10% of highest-performing schools on the Aspire tests in the 2020-2021 school year.

The Arkansas School Recognition Program was created to provide financial awards to public schools that achieve high student performance and academic growth.  Schools receiving the recognition funds are required to establish a committee to determine how the funds will be used based on an acceptable list provided by Arkansas Department of Education.

Melbourne Elementary Principal Lori Loggains reflected, “We are a strong school.  The teachers and staff we have continue to invest in our students making MES the Best!  We also appreciate Senator Sturch for presenting the check to our school.”
