Roby Cooper, an all-star golf player at Melbourne High School, signed a letter of intent to play on the men’s golf team at Harding. Cooper has been playing golf since he was very young when he started tagging along with his dad on the golf course. Since then he has won one individual state championship and one runner-up and help lead the Melbourne High School boy’s golf team to back-to-back state championships in 2020 and 2021.
He was awarded all-conference for four years in a row, all state in 2020 and 2021, and recently competed and placed 3rd in the overall golf tournament competing against all classifications in the state. Roby has competed in multiple sports at Melbourne High School including basketball, baseball, golf, and football. While his football career was short lived according to athletic director Kevin McCarn, he has everything a school looks for in a great student-athlete, including a great track record in the classroom.
Cooper stated, “I’ve always wanted to play golf in college and to play for Harding is a blessing”. He is excited to attend Harding in the fall and to continue his passion for golf and will get an opportunity to help another team reach new heights. Roby plans to major in business. Congratulations Roby!
